Your salvation was not a last-minute decision. God set His love on you from eternity past, and nothing in heaven or on earth will undo His purpose for your life.
Theological Meaning
Predestination refers to God’s eternal decree, made before the creation of the world, to appoint certain individuals to salvation through Jesus Christ. This decree flows from God’s sovereign will and His perfect love. He did not look ahead and choose people based on their good works or personal merit. He chose based on His own purpose and grace alone.

What Predestination Means for You
Picture a Cambodian family preparing for a wedding feast. Weeks before the celebration, the family writes down the names of every guest on the invitation list. Each person is chosen with care and love. No one ends up on the list by mistake. When the day arrives, the guests come knowing they were wanted and expected.
Predestination works in a similar way. God wrote your name on His invitation list before He formed the stars. You are not an afterthought. The Creator of the universe set His affection on you and planned to bring you into His family through the blood of Jesus Christ.

She walks in on day one knowing she belongs. When God predestines you, He gives you the same assurance. You belong in His family. The God of all creation selected you.
Predestination does not make your choices meaningless. You still respond to the gospel. You still place your trust in Christ. God’s choosing and your believing work together in a beautiful mystery. He calls, and you answer. His sovereign plan and your personal faith meet at the cross of Jesus.

Reference Scriptures on Predestination
**Ephesians 1:4-5**
“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.”
- God chose believers in Christ before the world existed. He predestined you to become His adopted child. This was not based on anything you did. This was based entirely on the good pleasure of His will.
**Romans 8:29-30**

Lessons from Great Evangelical Leaders, Preachers and Teachers of the Past
Charles Spurgeon, the great London preacher, once said: “I believe the doctrine of election, because I am quite certain that, if God had not chosen me, I should never have chosen Him; and I am sure He chose me before I was born, or else He never would have chosen me afterwards.”
Spurgeon understood a truth every believer needs to grasp. Left on your own, you would never seek God. Your salvation started with His choice, not yours.
Jonathan Edwards, the American pastor who helped lead the Great Awakening, taught his people to see predestination as a reason for deep worship. Edwards reminded believers: God does not owe anyone salvation. Every soul He rescues is an act of pure, undeserved grace.

Rest in your security. When doubt creeps in, when life gets hard, when you feel like giving up, remember this: God chose you. His decision does not depend on your feelings or your failures. Share the good news of Jesus with someone who needs hope today. A woman selling vegetables at the morning market serves her community with faithful hands every day. Serve your God and your neighbors with the same faithfulness.
Worship with deeper gratitude. When you realize salvation began with God and not with you, worship becomes an overflow of the heart. Stop taking credit for your own rescue. Give all the glory to the One who loved you before you loved Him. Let every meal, every sunrise over the Tonle Sap, every laugh with your children become an act of praise to the God who chose you.
Trust God with what you do not understand. You will not fully grasp how God’s sovereignty and human responsibility fit together on this side of heaven. Walk by faith. Believe God is good. Believe His plans for you are rooted in love. Trust Him the way a child trusts a kind father, without needing every detail explained.
God chose you. He predestined you. He loves you. Now go and live like someone chosen by the King of kings.
