The New Heaven and the New Earth

One day God will throw away the old world and make everything new. Not repaired. Not patched. Brand new. The Bible ends not with darkness but with a promise so big it can hold every tear you have ever cried.

Listen to what God shows John: “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea” (Revelation 21:1). This is your future if you belong to Jesus. Hold on to it.

A World Made Completely New

A smiling woman points to an image of lush farmland and village homes amid a busy city street scene, with the text "Behold, I make all things new." Revelation 21:5

Think of your homeland after every sorrow is gone. Imagine the fields you walked as a child, but with no flood to wash away the rice. Imagine the markets full, but with no sickness in any home. Imagine the roads you know, but no funeral ever passing down them again.

That is a small picture of the new heaven new earth. God does not plan to take you to a strange place far away. He plans to make your true home perfect at last. Every loss healed. Every wound closed.

God Himself speaks the promise: “Behold, I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5). He does not say He makes some things new. He says all things. Nothing good will be left out.

God Will Wipe Away Every Tear

Read these words slowly: “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4).

Picture His hand reaching down to your face. The God who made the stars bends low to dry your eyes. He does not send a servant. He does it Himself.

Death will be finished. The grave loses its power. The pain you carry today has an end date written by God.

Jonathan Edwards once said, “The enjoyment of God is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied.” Every other joy fades. The new earth gives you God Himself forever, and that joy never runs dry.

A Home Where Righteousness Lives

Peter tells us what kind of home this will be: “Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13).

No corruption will live there. No lies, no theft, no cruelty. Only what is right and good. The things that break your heart in this world will never enter that one.

God said the same thing long ago through Isaiah: “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind” (Isaiah 65:17). The old griefs will fade from memory like a bad dream when morning comes.

C.S. Lewis wrote, “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” That ache in your heart is real. God made you for the world He is preparing.

Even Creation Is Waiting

The New Heaven and the New Earth — "Even creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are." (Romans 8:19)

You are not the only one longing for this day. The whole world groans for it: “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God… because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God” (Romans 8:19-21).

The rivers, the forests, the mountains of your land all wait under a curse. They too will be set free. When God makes all things new, even creation will breathe freely again.

Charles Spurgeon said, “I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.” The hard waves of this life are pushing you toward your eternal home. Let them.

Live It Today

Read Revelation 21 out loud

Open your Bible to Revelation 21 and read the first five verses slowly. Let the promise of God settle into your heart before you sleep tonight.

Name your deepest sorrow before God

Tell Him the loss you carry. Then remember He has promised to wipe that tear away with His own hand. Give your grief to the God who heals it.

Loosen your grip on this world

Hold your money, your plans, and your fears more lightly today. This world is passing away. Live for the home that lasts.

Make sure your name is written in His book

Only those who belong to Jesus will enter the new earth. If you have never trusted Him, turn to Him today. Ask Him to forgive your sins and lead your life.

Your Takeaway

Your Takeaway: He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Revelation 21:5

The best is not behind you. It is ahead of you. God is preparing a new heaven new earth where every sorrow is gone and He lives with you forever. Keep your eyes on that day. It is coming.
